Currently, JRS operates three departments, One for education, one for psychosocial support, and one for reconciliation – in the Tanzanian refugee camps situated in the Kigoma region. To help fulfill its objective, JRS is seeking an assistant human resource officer.

JRS Tanzania employs a wide range of administration, implementation, and support staff members at all levels. These include the program, finance, and logistic teams; incentive workers in the camps; office attendants; drivers; assistant coordinators and coordinators in various bases; and project directors.

Planning

  • As required by the Human Resources Officer, comply with JRS standards, local labor laws, and the National Staffs Internal Regulations. The compensation grid/list of functions, the hiring and evaluation procedures, and the actions outlined for the induction of newly hired employees are all included in the regulations as an appendix.
  • Execute the uniform JRS staff induction program.
  • Put the wage grid into practice and participate in its creation.
  • Create and update the mission organizational charts and job descriptions in collaboration with the country director, country finance officer, country program officer, and human resources officer.
  • Follow up with the Project Director or any other pertinent team member regarding any local training opportunities for JRS Staff and exchange information.

  • In the Tanzanian offices, keep an eye on and ensure that the internal regulations are being followed.
  • Keep a record of the staff’s training.
  • Organize frequent staff information meetings, oversee the execution of all administrative local protocols and processes, and routinely attend all briefings where HR knowledge is required (Finance, Programs, and Administration).
  • serve as a liaison between the Tanzanian team and the Burundian human resources officer.
  • Create and execute international guidelines, procedures, and JRS HR core policies in accordance with international humanitarian standards (PSEAH, Child Protection Policy, Anti-fraud Policy, and others).
  • Help with the JRS Global Staff Care Program’s implementation (working conditions, environment, policies, security and safety, MHPSS).

Qualification and Competencies:

  • A human resources degree from an academic institution, expertise in a similar discipline (business administration, organizational development, etc.), or a particular degree, certification, or training in human resources management.
  • A minimum of two(2) years of experience working for a non-profit or international organization in a comparable capacity.
  • Excellent written and spoken Kiswahili and English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and any software or computer systems relevant to human resources management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to function in a global, multiethnic workplace.
  • Strong capacity to foster innovation inside the organization and innovate in a changing environment.
  • Strong planning, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
