IPA’s Sector Programs provide expertise and leadership to identify and address critical evidence gaps in key topic areas including Education, Entrepreneurship and Private Sector Development, Financial Inclusion, Human Trafficking, Intimate Partner Violence, Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Assistance, and Social Protection. A new program on Climate and Environment is expected to launch in 2024. IPA sector teams work with leading researchers, program implementers, policymakers, funders, and IPA country offices and global teams to identify questions and knowledge gaps that are important and policy-relevant, identify promising interventions and policy solutions, develop projects addressing key knowledge gaps through rigorous evaluations and high-quality data, and share results and lessons with decision-makers and help bring effective programs to scale.
The Financial Inclusion Program (FIP) and the Human Trafficking Research Initiative (HTRI), two of IPA’s Sector Programs, will benefit from the administrative coordination and communications support provided by the new position of Program Coordinator. Additionally, the Coordinator will offer general administrative support to the Sector Programs team. Responsibilities:
Supporting the administration of two of IPA’s Sector Programs, the Financial Inclusion Program (FIP) and the Human Trafficking Research Initiative (HTRI) (90%)
- Coordinating with the Grants team at IPA to handle funding allocations and grant agreements
- Assisting with the tracking of ongoing research projects sponsored by the HTRI and FIP, including financial tracking, file maintenance, and deliverables
- Establishing consultant contracts and handling payment requests
- Assisting with the management of FIP’s Consumer Protection Research Initiative and HTRI’s competitive research fund, including updating, posting, and distributing calls for proposals, responding to questions regarding the prerequisites for grant applications, and assisting with the review process of the selection committee as well as donor communications and approvals
- Supporting the responsibilities associated with financial administration (such as cost transfers, monthly spending reviews, payment requests, and invoicing).
- Assisting with grantee correspondence (emails, deliverable reminders, kick-off calls, etc.)
- Creating project summaries for sponsored studies and communicating with the communications team of IPA and research teams to have them approved and posted.
General Sector Programs administration and event planning (10%)
- Providing as needed assistance with the Sector Programs team’s financial and administrative activities (cost transfers, payment requests, consultant agreements, travel requests, and invoicing).
- Providing assistance as needed for the planning and running of weekly gatherings, yearly retreats, and other events.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public policy, political science, economics, or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience working or interning in a related field such as research, policy, international development, program management, or another relevant subject
- The capacity to effectively prioritize and handle several activities, as well as pay close attention to operational and research details
- Outstanding communication abilities and the capacity to interact with internal and external stakeholders in an efficient and transparent manner
- Proficiency with the Google Suite (Docs, Sheets) and/or Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), especially familiarity with utilizing Google Sheets and Excel formulas to manage spreadsheets
- Capacity to communicate ideas clearly and concisely both vocally and in writing
- Self-motivation, adaptability, openness to new ideas, and a focus on the team
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
Preferred
- Familiarity with subjects pertaining to one or more of the sector programs of IPA (agricultural, education, human trafficking, intimate partner violence, entrepreneurship and private sector growth, peace and recovery, social protection)
Compensation:
IPA’s compensation structure is designed based on the labor market for the specific geographic location where the employee is located. We are offering the following salary ranges for this position:
– Program Coordinator is classified as “B3” on IPA’s global job structure.
– For US-based employees, the starting annual gross salary is $44,900 with a maximum of $53,000
– The salary for locations outside of the US will vary depending on IPA’s salary scale ranges for that specific location.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
