EWURA CCC Hiring Council members – 3 Positions

VACANCIES FOR MEMBERS OF THE ENERGY AND WATER UTILITIES REGULATORY AUTHORITY’S CONSUMER CONSULTATIVE COUNCIL (EWURA CCC)

The EWURA CCC, formed under Section 30 of the EWURA Act, Cap. 414, is the Energy and Water Regulatory Authority’s Consumer Consultative Council.

The Council’s functions under Section 31(1) of the Act are:

  • Representing consumers’ interests via contributions, opinions, and information, as well as consultation with the authority, minister, and sector ministers.
  • Receiving and sharing information and opinions on issues relevant to consumers of regulated products and services.
  • forming regional and sector consumer committees and interacting with them.
  • Consultation with business, government, and other consumer organizations on issues relevant to consumers of regulated products and services.
  • Creating local and industry consumer committees and consulting with them.

EWURA CCC consists of seven members nominated by the Minister of Energy from the business community or recognized organizations representing private sector interests.

Vacancy Posts of Member of EWURA CCC

Three council members served until July 2023. The Chairman of the Nomination Committee, also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for vacant positions on the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority’s Consumer Consultative Council (EWURA CCC) under Section 41 of the EWURA Act.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants for appointment as EWURA CCC members must have the following minimal qualifications:

  1. A thorough understanding of the interests of:
    • Consumers and those of regulated services.
    • Low-income, rural, and disadvantaged individuals.
    • Industrial and business users.
    • Government and community organizations.
  2. A graduate from a recognized university or equivalent institution.
  3. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in one or more of the following fields:
    • Management
    • Law
    • Economics
    • Mass communication
    • Sociology
    • Finance
    • Electrical engineering
  4. Knowledge of the energy, water, or utility regulation industry.
  5. Not a leader of a political party.
  6. Willingness and availability to serve as a member of EWURA CCC.
  7. In the opinion of the Nomination Committee, otherwise suitable to perform the functions and duties of a member competently and honestly.
  8. Must be a Tanzanian.

Mode of Application

Qualified and interested individuals should submit an application describing how they satisfy the criteria. Applications must include the following:

  • Certified copies of relevant certificates.
  • A curriculum vitae (CV).
  • One recent passport-size photograph.
  • Names and contact details of three work-related referees, including their phone numbers and email addresses.
