Key Responsibilities
Design and Implementation:
- Create and manage the application of MEL frameworks and techniques to evaluate the influence and efficacy of Wezesha’s initiatives.
- To guarantee accurate and high-quality data gathering, design and execute protocols, techniques, and instruments for both quantitative and qualitative data collecting.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze data thoroughly to produce insights and guide ongoing program improvements.
- Create and manage program monitoring dashboards that are automated and updated in real time to show important quantitative performance indicators.
- Create program reports of the highest caliber, as well as research articles, presentations, and evaluation reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Research and Publications:
- Oversee the planning and implementation of thorough research projects, such as RCTs, in cooperation with outside scientists, assessors, and government
- Oversee the process of research findings being published in peer-reviewed journals and other appropriate venues.
Team Management:
- Oversee and guide a group of MEL employees and research assistants, promoting a cooperative and efficient work atmosphere.
- Train employees and develop their capacity in MEL best practices and procedures.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Establish and uphold all forms of communication about research with a wide range of stakeholders, such as government representatives, outside scholars and Principal Investigators, national and international research organizations, and internal personnel.
- Oversee the independent data gathering company by ensuring that important tasks are completed on time and that communications are sent out on schedule.
- Oversee the procedure for obtaining all necessary research approvals, including those from government and ethics committees.
- Work together with program teams to incorporate MEL activities into the planning and execution of programs.
- Interact with stakeholders, donors, and outside partners to share findings and facilitate the distribution of outcomes.
Qualifications
Education:
- A master’s degree or above in a relevant discipline, such as public health, epidemiology, social sciences, or statistics. Master’s degree preference.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years’ worth of monitoring and evaluation experience, primarily in regard to health initiatives.
- A track record of success leading research teams and carrying out excellent research, including RCTs.
- A track record of producing and disseminating research papers in journals with peer review.(Optional)
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R)
- Familiarity in creating and utilizing data visualisation tools, ideally with business intelligence tools like PowerBI and Tableau
- Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to decipher difficult data and produce insights that can be put to use.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Swahili is a strong advantage.
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and comprehensive reports and presentations.
Other Skills:
- Strong capacity to manage several activities and deadlines in a project management context.
- Exceptional focus on detail and dedication to delivering work of the highest caliber.
- The capacity to function well both individually and in a group.
- Managing stakeholders between the government and researchers (preferred)
