The following roles will be seconded to AUMS-Geofields at Geita Gold Mine, and Geofields is excited to fill them. One key role, in particular, is the underground shift supervisor.
Underground Shift Supervisor
Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position purpose
This position is required to coordinate underground mining activities on daily basis for through prioritizing resources, machinery and personnel to achieve targets set out in the mine plan. It is crucial because Geofields Tanzania is hiring an underground shift supervisor for such important tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Guarantees the safe conduct of mining activities and that any safety concerns are immediately addressed to the Project Manager and Underground Manager;
- Arranging the mine’s daily production levels;
- Carries out the daily management, control, and oversight of the mine’s operating areas in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Oversees the mine and protects the interests of the principal with regard to the duty of care owed to all workers, subcontractors, and guests, making sure that each worker recognizes and takes responsibility for both their own safety and health as well as the health and safety of their coworkers;
- Arranges and gives crews at each site direction regarding rosters and the day-to-day operations of that specific site;
- Holds toolbox and work planning meetings every day.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of ten years’ worth of underground hard rock mining machinery experience.
- Five years at least in a supervisory role in a mechanized mine.
- Must be certified as an underground shift supervisor.
- Training in management or leadership development.
- A valid driver’s license from Tanzania and competent driving abilities.
- Senior First Aid Certification.
- Being familiar with drilling and blasting methods;
- Recognizing the productivity and capabilities of both human and equipment resources;
- Being aware of my plans;
- Possessing the knowledge and skills necessary to maximize mine output.
- The capacity to interact and coordinate with the site manager and staff.
- Recognizing the use of mining equipment.
- The capacity to recognize possible risks and reduce them.
- Knowing what explosives are.
- Being aware of the relevant mining laws and regulations.
- Capacity to evaluate individuals’ performance and potential.
