On Behalf of Halisi Agri, Dark Earth Carbon (DEC) is looking for an Organic Field Officer for the open vacancy.

Halisi Agri is an agricultural business based in Dar Es Salaam. Halisi’s main operations involve purchasing, processing, and exporting sesame seeds. Halisi works directly with farmers to procure quality seeds that it then cleans and sorts before exporting to international markets. Job Purpose:
In order to ensure that farmers are following organic requirements during the planting, growing, and harvesting processes, Organic Field Officers must work closely with farmers to educate them on organic agricultural practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Education & Advocacy: Provide farmers with instruction on important organic agricultural concepts.
- Site Visits: Make sure that organic principles are being followed by regularly visiting farmers’ locations.
- Teamwork: To guarantee that the objectives for the organic supply are fulfilled, collaborate closely with the management and other FOs.
- Feedback gathering: Get input from stakeholders and farmers alike so that Halisi can keep improving the way it collaborates with local governments and farms.
- Reporting: Keep track of and share site visit results, including the difficulties farmers confront, along with suggestions for practical fixes.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in soil science, agriculture, agronomy, or a similar discipline.
- Two years minimum of experience in agronomy or a related field.
- While not necessary, prior knowledge of organic farming and sesame would be beneficial.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of the concepts and techniques of agronomy.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, including the ability to run training sessions.
- Analytical skills, particularly in the evaluation of agricultural practices and application techniques.
- Independent and capable of making thoughtful choices.
- English and Swahili language proficiency is required.
