In order to support the Audit Manager, the role must lead and coordinate the audit assignments during planning, field execution, and reporting of audit engagements. Along with identifying, communicating, and understanding the major risks—including fraud risk—of the process under audit, the job is also accountable for supporting the managers and senior managers. The role is also accountable for creating high-quality audit reports that will be given to management and making sure that adequate audit evidence has been recorded to support audit opinions.
Main Responsibilities:
- As the team leader, oversee the audit assignment by making sure that the major risks of the process being audited—including the risk of fraud—are recognized and shared with the other team members involved in the assignment.
- Verify the accuracy of the reported process flow by speaking with the process owners.
- Throughout the audit, keep in touch and coordinate with the process owners on all issues pertaining to the assignment.
- Draft management letter spells out important control flaws that were discovered during the audit and offer suggestions on how to strengthen them.
- Make sure there is enough documented audit evidence to back up the audit opinion.
- Lead the audit team in audit assignments by evaluating team members’ performance, bringing up review points, and making sure those points have been resolved.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a similar discipline.
- It will be advantageous to have a professional auditing or accounting qualification, such as a CIA, CPA, CISA, ACCA, or similar.
- Four years or more of experience in accounting or auditing in a respectable financial institution or audit company.
- Familiarity with financial firms’ internal audit procedures.
