Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of Maintenance and Development of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. It is also responsible in conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.
On behalf of the Chief Executive of TANROADS, the Regional Manager of TANROADS Dodoma is seeking capable Tanzanians to occupy open positions in three (3) projects: Enhancement of Ntyuka Jet. – Mvumi – Chololo and Kikombo Jet (76.0 km).
The 5km road from Mapinduzi (TPDF HO) to Bitumen Standard, Section I, is the upgrade of Ntyuka Jet to Mvumi – Kikombo Jet (76.0km) and Chololo Mapinduzi (TPDF HQ) to Bitumen Standard, Section II, is the Kikombo Jet road section, which is 53km long. – Chololo – Mapinduzi (TPDF HQ) (16.4km) and upgrading the roads in the Dodoma Region, LOTI: Kongwa Jet – Ngambi – Mpwapwa (32.0Km) and Mpwapwa Gulwe – Kibakwe (46.9Km) to Bitumen Standard.
The Regional Manager’s Office TANROADS – Dodoma, on behalf of the Chief Executive, is seeking qualified and competent candidates to fill open positions on a specified contract for the aforementioned road projects in the following fields in order to strengthen the capacity to discharge TAN ROADS functions effectively.
POSITION TITTLE: Senior Engineer (Highway Engineer) – 3 Posts
Entry Qualifications:
The candidate must be a citizen of Tanzania and hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Civil engineering, highway engineering, transportation engineering, structural engineering, or equivalent training from accredited institutions with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in a related field and three (3) projects of the same kind as a highway engineer. ERB registration as a professional engineer is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Highway Engineer shall be full responsible for the supervision of the construction in accordance with the provision of Contract.
- Shall comprise road surveys, construction of pavement structures.
- Measuring of quantities and management of site operations to ensure that only the best construction practices are followed and that the final product shall in or respect equal to, or better than that specified, at the most economic costs and is carried out in full compliance with the governing specifications.
- Shall supervise the construction works with due diligence and efficiency and in accordance with sound technical, administrative, financial and economic practices.
- Shall conduct design review and assists in approving shop drawings.
- Assist Resident Project Manager with preparation of weekly and monthly project updates and reporting.
- Update and maintains master schedule for the project.
- Coordinators supervision team to avoid unnecessary claims and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Assists the Resident Project Manager to record, examine and evaluate or claims submitted by the Contractor.

The project is located in the Dodoma Region, and successful applicants must be prepared to labor there for extended periods of time.
Terms of Service:
- The Terms of Employment: Specified Contract for 1 year or more upon completion of the Project.
